  1. I currently live in Bentonville, just north of Springdale and Fayetteville.  There is the Ozarks regional transit which runs buses throughout the area.  I've attached a link to the website.

If I was going to live in the area, I'd live either in Fayetteville or Bentonville, but that's my personal choice.  Employment is pretty healthy here, thanks to Wal-Mart (Bentonville), Tyson Farms (Springdale) and JB Hunt (Lowell) having home offices here.  There are lots of businesses supporting the work of those companies.  Fayetteville is the largest town in the area and has the University of Arkansas' main campus, so there's lots of work supporting that as well.  The Northwest Arkansas Mall is in Fayetteville and is the area's largest shopping center, but the Promenade at Pinnacle is a new, outdoor mall with lots of high end stores and it's right off the interstate, so it's easy access, I'm sure the bus line is already going there.

I know there are fairly new apartments right across the street from the mall in Fayetteville and rent is pretty reasonable here.  The housing market is not so healthy, but it's not much worse than anywhere else.  Too many homes built in anticipation of demand that are now sitting empty, but that's more Bentonville than Springdale and Fayetteville.  You're probably not in the market for a house just yet, though.

Northwest Arkansas is a beautiful area, in the foothills of the Ozarks, with lakes nearby and lots of natural attractions.  Eureka Springs is about an hour away and is a popular destination.  Branson is about 2 hours away.  Arkansas has many beautiful state parks and I don't think there are fees to enjoy any of them.  Devil's Den is just south of Fayetteville and offers miles of hiking trails for all abilities, campsites, cabins and food.  There is a picture perfect dam that was built during the WPA era of the Depression.  I've taken dozens of pictures of the dam and still can't get over its picturesque beauty.
