  1. just another waste of money. there are better ways to make it work. no child left behind also means no child gets ahead, believe me, i know.

  2. The government are planning changes to No Child left Behind. They are also trying to update Every Child Matters and Every Disabled Child matters. But as with everything else these changes will be very slow and will not impact on children who are currently in the school system.

  3. NCLB is a crock!!  They will have to competely overhaul it to make it work. And if they are actually going to change it, they need to talk to some actual teachers who are having to deal with it on a daily basis.  My school district was labeled as "Not Making Progress" because of the standarized test.  The reason we scored low on the test, was due to special education students.  Hummm.... slight problem with that.  They were scored the same as their non-SPED peers, of course they scored lower, they have a DISABILITY.  There is no way that 100% of students will ever be reading at grade level.

All of the candidates are stating that it needs to be fixed in so many ways, but whether they actually stand by their word is something that we will have to wait and see.  I m pretty sure that the NEA (one of the major unions) is backing Clinton, because she is the only one that has the most education experience.  Hopefully she follows through on her promises.
