  1. The samsung sc-d353 is a miniDV tape based camcorder - and as with ALL miniDV tape based camcorders will transfer video from the tape to your computer (Macintosh or Windows) using a firwire (i/Link, IEEE1394 - all the same thing) cable. You will need a 4-pin to 6-pin firewire cable to connect the DV port on the camcorder to the firewire 400 port on your Mac.

    USB will not work - iMovie and FinalCut won't recognize digital video being imported using that connection.

    Refer to pages 79 and 80. Your MacBook Pro already has a firewire port, so you don't need to install one.

    Firewire cables are cheap.

    Page 12 of the manual indicates a firewire cable was not included in the box - no worries, this is typical and not a Samsung trait.
