  1. I haven't seen any new versions of the Mi-26 in the works, but they are regularly upgraded by their respective operators. The An-124 is another story though. Unlike it's American counterpart, the C-5, the An-124 has seen a very busy civilian career in a busy market and the market has seen it steadily upgraded to extend service life and gain more range/capability. The latest versions have advanced control systems and one series has been produced with western avionics. However, those are only rebuilds and upgrades as new airframes have not been built since the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The biggest news is of plans to resume production on new aircraft (the versions will be the An-124-100 and 100M) If those plans go through, we'll be seeing even more Ruslans flying. An interesting note is that there is rumored to be a proposed new version (An124-150) expected to have increased range, payload, speed, and new avionics and fly by wire control systems. This proposed plane may also have a higher weight and max T/O weight, which will put it back on top as the world's largest production aircraft. These stories are hard to confirm, but are definitely intruiging.
