It depends on what you want it for. This would be an excellent katana for swinging and practicing your katas, but as far as mat cutting goes (or any cutting) this is not the sword for you.

As far as a real sword goes that's a piece of junk, and fake. You'd be looking at anywhere around 1000 bucks or more for a real sword.
