Does anyone know if we need a passport to fly within the United States?

I don't know if we need it or not. My friend was telling me about how the laws have changed. I checked the airport's website, but it says that "government ID is required for flight". That's all there is to it.

  1. Within the US no passport is needed.... period.

    The govt. ID means drivers license, state issued ID card or military ID. That's it.


  2. You do not need a passport if you are traveling within any of the states. You do need one for most other countries though.

    What you do need is your drivers license or something similar to show the TSA agents at the airport. Don't forget that you can't have many liquids and some items are prohibited. For that information, click on the link in my sources box.

  5. You do not need one within the US. Just bring your Drivers license or id card issued by the gov.
