Does anyone know if you can smoke on cruise ships?

My friend and I are hoping to take a trip together. She really wants to take a cruise through the Carribean. I like the idea but have heard that cruise ships are smoke-free. This is not an issue for her but I dont like the idea of being on a cruise ship for 1 week and not being able to smoke.

  1. The cruise i went on had a smoking section... far away from the fun, but one nonetheless.

  2. Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas has many areas where you can smoke.

There is a whole area by the pool and pretty much any of the open air decks.

Also, most of the bars/clubs allow you to smoke as well.

I had the same concern before I cruised, but had no problems being able to pollute my lungs as much as I wanted!!!

  3. they are normally smoke free. so why don't you take this oppertunity to try to quit smoking.

  4. yogang is FOS.

Both Royal Carribean and Carnival allow smoking. On RC, smoking is allowed on the port side (left side) of the ship. On Carnival, smoking is allowed starboard side (right side) of the ship on certain decks outdoors. Also, the inside bars allow smoking in 1/2 of the area, clearly designated.

Some ships are smoke free, such as Carnival Paradise. Check with the cruise line before you book. I cruised RC Monarch of the Seas and Carnival Elation last year and Both allowed smoking.

Most cruise ship dining rooms and showrooms are now totally smoke-free. Smoking is allowed on deck and most public areas including bars, lounges and casinos.
