Does anyone know of Shinichiro Watanabe's future plans in the world of anime?

Shinichiro Watanabe, anime director, has been the main man behind two of my top three favorite anime's of all time: Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. He's taken a form of media that would generally be regarded as a mere cartoon by many closed minded, ignoramuses and turned it into an art. My assiduous web searches to gain an inkling of information about any of his future projects in the anime world has always been in vain. I've come up with virtually nothing, other than some vague, dubious sources.

Does he plan to come out with a Champloo movie? A Bebop prequel or sequel ( I hope not a sequel, it ended too perfectly)? Or maybe another brand new series? I don't know. I'd really appreciate it if someone could enlighten me.

  1. Well have you seen his latest work, Baby Blue? It is a short from the film "Genius Party". It was really really good~ and also features the music of the great Yoko Kanno. You can watch it here~

As for what is next in line from him, I don't know. I believe I read somewhere a while back that his next project would be very different from the things he's done already (Bebop and Shamploo). After seeing Baby Blue, I think it would be great to see him direct something that doesn't revolve primarily on action.
