  1. Well I ought to, seeing as it's where I live! (High Wycombe that is, not Torquay!) Okay I don't quite live in High Wycombe, but near enough! Same line, at least.

Right, I would ditch the coach idea as that means going to either Milton Keynes or Victoria, and both are a bother to get to.

First question: - If you're under 26, do either, or both of you, hold Young Persons Railcards? Would you mind travelling via Paddington (I ask as it's usually cheaper to go through London than to circumnavigate it).

However, if you've got luggage (it would depend on how long you're planning to stay in Devon for) then circumnavigation is usually simpler (and may work out cheaper, because you won't have to take taxis, as dragging luggage down escalators is a complete PITA. I've done it - NEVER AGAIN!!)

To avoid London, you'd need to go from Wycombe to Banbury, but the total journey time would be between 5 and 6 hours. I've done journeys down to various parts of the West Country (Sherborne, Dorset, Exeter, Boscastle, Newquay) and I don't mind the longer journey times, as London is too stressful for me.

If you both had YPRCs then the cost (avoiding London, my preferred route) would be £47.50 return each. Otherwise it's £71.
