  1. As Otter says, this is not a cheap area of Paris. Is there a reason why you have to be near that particular station? The Gare du Nord / Gare de l'Est area is 4-5 stops away and is much cheaper (although then the "decent" part kicks in!).

  2. Here's a list of hotels in that area. It's right in the centre of Paris, next to the Opera and the Grands Magasins (Galeries Lafayette and Printemps) so great base to see Paris but not cheap....

  3. Try the Hôtel Chaussée d'Antin. Here is their webpage: http://perso.orange.fr/..hotelchausseeda... They advertise single rooms for 49 euros and doubles for 59.

Why are you so particular about staying by a certain metro station? enerally speaking that sort of thing makes no sense at all since Metro stations, at least in Paris proper, tend to be so close to each other.

Different people will have different opinions but mine is that this area is not the best choice. Everywhere in Paris is filled with tourists but this area is filled with tourists who found their hotel thru travel agents or are passing through on some dreadful bus tour. I usually suggest that the 4th, 5th or 6th arrondissements are the best for a tourist.
