  1. Boycott the industry, the prices being charged for babies is sick.

  2. YES! There is an option that is just about FREE!!

Foster adopt. We got our girls in less than six months and it cost all of about $600! The girls are perfectly healthy and beautiful. . . and twins!

Check out foster adopt options at www.adoptive-parenting.com/fosteradopt.h...

You don't have to go through the county there are quite a few private adoption agencies that work with the counties to find the child that matches your needs and desires.

My girlfriend was matched with a beautiful white (blond hair blue eyed) infant within 1 month of completing her homestudy. Her adoption should be final in a couple of months.

  3. Children in general are expensive

  4. Please do not make your decision based on cost. While that obviously has to be a practical factor, it should be way down on the list of priorities for determing which agency to adopt from.

Certain fees will be the same anywhere (court filing fees, etc), so the difference often comes in what the agency charges for their services.. In an ethical agency the majority of your fees paid directly to the agency will go right back in to the services provided for your child. This can (but doesn't always) mean things like better medical care, diet, etc. It is really important to ask very specifically how all the money is allocated.

With most adoptions the money is not due all at once but actually a little at a time based on which phase of the adoption you are in. So while the total number may seem daunting, paying it over many months can help a lot. In addition, there are many places that offer grants to help fund an adoption and I am sure you are aware of the hefty tax credit you recieve after your adoption is completed. Foster to adopt, is also a fantastic way to expand your family. If you search through groups.yahoo.com there are groups devoted specifically to adoption fundraising and agency selection. I included a link to the fundraising group below.

  5. It's expensive because it's driven by consumer demand, just like any other business.  When human lives are involved, I find this aspect of infant adoption deplorable.

If people stop feeding the businesses adoption would return to being a social service for children, and costs would lessen

Good luck.  There are children of all ages awaiting a loving home, all of them deserve one - please don't by-pass them

  6. Once you are willing to commit your home and unconditional love to a child who needs it, money should not be a factor.

Mentor children, become a big brother/big sister, help community children.  If that works for you, then become a foster parent and see how that works before making any decisions about adoption.

I mean, does anyone know of a cheaper human being?
