Does anyone know of a computer program (online) to help me rearrange my preschool classroom?

I've worked in 3 different preschools since 2004, and have always been a teacher's assistant. I am finaly a lead teacher with the 3 year olds now. And I FINALLY have my own classroom. The teacher before me was a real slacker and the room, currently, looks like c**p. I was looking for a virtual program perhaps to accurately help me rearrange my room. Let me know! Thanks!

Set it up in centers. You need a reading area, a math area, a geography area and art area. How you arrange it will depend on your room size and shape and what equipment you have.

One hint, in the art area, don't give them coloring pages out of a book to do. Just give them blank paper and colors and pencils. Let them be creative.

Congrats on getting the lead teacher position!! I know how exciting that is. I'm sorry to say that I don't know of any online programs to help you out. Like the previous answerer, I suggest setting up in centers. Use bookshelves to section off the room, and rugs to designate areas. Find a nice, open blank wall to set up your circle area. Hang your calander, days of the week, colors, shapes, numbers, letters, who's here board and anything else you may need during circle. Maybe use that same area for your book area. Find a good corner for your "social science" (aka kitchen, dress up, and house items) because that tends to be the messiest. Maybe find an extra table for  your art area and keep it stocked with blank or scrap paper and crayons/markers.

If you need a visual to help you... try drawing up a scematic of your room. Cut out pieces of paper to represent moveable furnature and play with it until you have a good arrangement. Hopefully you have a weekend where you can come in and clean and arrange your room - it'll probably take the better part of the weekend to get it the way you want!

How exciting! I got to set up my first preschool classroom 2 yrs. ago. Setting up a classroom environment is much more than just rearranging some furniture; it's about setting an environment that reflects your view of children. You have to read this book!
