I Need a good poem to put in a Memorial Handout for my Grandmother who recently passed away. She is a mother of 6. and has serveal grandchildren and greatgrand children. All of her past husbands are already dead. She was not the nicest lady in the world (but we are going to pretend she was for the funeral) so I need help with a poem. Thank you for your suggestions.

  1. Here are a few :)

    THE BROKEN CHAIN

We little knew that morning that God was going to all your name,

In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone,

For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,

And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,

But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

    In Loving Memory

It broke my heart to lose you,

But you did not go alone

Part of me went with you,

the day God called you home.

A million times I've thought of you

    A million times I've cryed

If loving could have saved you

    You would have never died

Forgive me Lord, I'll always weep

For the one I loved but could not keep.

I found some others but they didn't seem like they applied. Sorry about your grandma<3

  2. This is the poem I recited at my father's funeral service.  It is the lyrics to a song by Carly Simon entitled, "Life Is Eternal,"  My father played the sax, so it was particular fitting for him, but I think it may serve for you, as well....

" I've been doing a lot of thinking

About growing older and moving on

No one wants to be told that they're getting on

    And maybe going away

    For a long, long stay

But just how long and who knows

And how and where will my spirit go

Will it soar like jazz on a saxophone

    Or evaporate on a breeze

    Won't you tell me please

    That life is eternal

    And love is immortal

And death is only a horizon

    Life is eternal

As we move into the light

    And a horizon is nothing

Save the limit of our sight

Save the limit of our sight

Here on earth I'm a lost soul

Ever trying to find my way back home

Maybe that's why each new star is born

    Expanding heaven's room

    Eternity in bloom

And will I see you up in that heaven

In all it's light will I know you there

Will we say the things that we never dared

    If wishing makes it so

    Won't you let me know

    That life is eternal

    And love is immortal

And death is only a horizon

    Life is eternal

As we move into the light

    And a horizon is nothing

Save the limit of our sight

Save the limit of our sight
