  1. At three reading bible stories and stories with good morals is probably enough.

As for a Christian Curricula we use Sonlight. We absolutely love it. They have a Kindergarten core but he may be a bit young for that.

  2. I will start to homeschool for the very first year---this year coming up.  I have three boys, two are in school, a 5th grader and a 2nd grader.  I have decided on using either the A beka DVD program 1  or Sonlight Curriculum--http://www.sonlight.com/awards.html

    Resource from their website:   www.abekaacademy.org

Program 1 A Beka Academy provides report cards & keeps transcripts.

DVD courses with master teachers are available in Program 1 for five-year-old kindergarten and grades one through twelve. Under the parent’s supervision, students in grades nine through twelve receive credit toward graduation requirements and can earn a diploma from A Beka Academy. On a scheduled periodic basis, work is sent to the A Beka Academy Office for evaluation.

    A Beka Academy will provide...

all necessary textbooks, tests, keys, and DVDs to complete grade/courses selected.

    manual with daily lesson plans.

grade level placement based upon review of previous work completed.

    an academic calendar.

    progress reports for record keeping.

return mailing envelopes for student work and prepaid return labels for DVDs (for contiguous U.S. and Canada).

evaluation of student work for each grading period.

a report card after each grading period.

credit toward graduation once all lessons have been viewed, assignments and tests have been completed, and passing grades have been earned.

a plan of study to meet graduation requirements for college preparatory program of study.

a diploma acknowledging completion of graduation requirements.

    an annual graduation ceremony.

one copy of the transcript free of charge.

    academic assistance Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–4:45 p.m. CT (1-800-874-3592).

Another website that has helped me decide to homeschool:

So why homeschool (or send your child to a Biblical Christian School)?

There are many reasons that include:

    1. Educating your children in the knowledge and fear of God is a Biblical mandate.

    2. Homeschooling holds the family together. With globalisation impacting on the family - homeschooling could be the way to go. Homeschooling helps bridge the generation gap.

    3. Homeschooling allows parents to shape their children rather than the negative peer pressure associated with public schools. This will help to fulfill a multi-generation vision. "A wise man leaves an inheritance to his children's children" (Prov. 13:22). This inheritance is material, spiritual, includes character and vision and destiny.

    4.  Homeschooling will help protect your child's innocence. Don't be deceived, once organisations like loveLife have gotten hold of your children's greatest s*x organ - their brain, it is difficult to go back. Once innocence is lost - it is lost!

    5. You will have greater peace of mind knowing your child is being raised in a godly way, with godly foundations that can carry them through the storms that life brings.

    6. Your child will have a superior education, have greater individual attention, and stand a greater chance in life. They will learn practical lifeskills like keeping budget, cooking and managing a home.

    7.  Your child will be able to relate to people of all ages. This impacts in the classroom - younger siblings can be inspired by what older siblings are learning. Older ones can teach younger ones.

    8. You will have more flexibility; for example you can take your family holidays out of season, which will save money. This flexibility is extended to the curriculum allowing you the freedom to design exciting and relevant topics and projects.

    9. While you are teaching your child, you will learn at the same time. This is particularly exciting if you are following a Biblical Christian curriculum as most of us went to public schools and got a humanistic education.

  3. There are many great ones available.  ONe of my favorites is "Great God, Grateful Child" by Karyn Henley,  if you can find it (its out of print).

This one is pretty good too:

  4. I don't know of one, but at 3 years, it would be best to keep it simple, and refrain from any formal study.  A 3-year-old will learn best from communication from, and with, you.  If you will simply talk to him about God's love, power and presence as well as read books to him about God and His creation, this will be an important foundation for your little one.

It is easy to try to delve too deep into spiritual issues when they are too young to comprehend.  Three-year-olds have a lot of time to learn more little-by-little.
