Whenever I look online, I find hostels listed that are close to the Zoo Station but I have no idea how close this is to the main train station. Can anyone help?

  1. Go to:

    www.hostels.de

    www. hihostels.com

  2. Meininger or wombats are both good hostels in Berlin.

  3. There is a youth hostel not far away (about 5 minutes walk) from the Berlin main station (which, by the way, was build not into an existing city center, that's the reason why there aren't many hotels and hostels). Here is the link: http://www.jgh-lehrter-strasse.de/index....

It's said to be rather unspectacular and average.

There is another hostel not far away (a bit more than 10 minutes walk or about one mile), more towards the real city center (east), called backpacker hostel Mitte: http://www.baxpax.de/mittes-backpacker/e... (it's recommended that you don't take a bed in the big dorm).

Zoo station is three stops with the city train from main station, this will take a bit more than five minutes, too. Don't book a room in the A&O Hostel, which rooms are rather ugly. The better bars and sights are around Friedrichstraße (one station east from main station).

  4. i don't off hand but I know www.ytbtravel.com/gordonsa could tell you the cheapest and closest one to the main train station. Just click and read the detailed description it will tell you there. I use it all the time for my international travel and there good.

    Good Luck with your search

  5. The public transportation is so good in Berlin you shouldn't be afraid to book something away from the HBF. The subway will wisk you to several stops within minutes. I would look for a hostel that says it is close to a U-Bahn station. I stayed at the Circus and it was very convenient.
