  1. For £300 you must be talking about a used Vespa. At that budget it will be very hard to find one and if you do it won't be in particularly good condition. When I had a Vespa ET4 125cc I paid more than £300 just to have it serviced!!!

Be careful with these cheap Chinese scooters, like the ones from DirectBikes (http://www.scooter.co.uk & http://www.moped.co.uk ) as I have heard terrible things about them. Some people (like Penny) seem a bit confused and think they are Vespa's when in fact they are made by some cheap unknown Chinese manufacturer, not by Italy's Piaggio Group (owner of the Vespa brand).

Best place to look for a used moped/scooter is http://www.ebay.co.uk and http://www.gumtree.com if you are in London.

    Good luck with your search!

  2. Vespa? Forget it.

For £300 I would be looking at either a 1980's/early 90's  Honda CG or CB125 motorcycle or a Honda C90 moped in fair condition with Tax and MOT.

You can buy a more modern and sophisticated moped or scooter for £300 but you'll have to look long and hard to find one that doesn't need £400+ of spares and repairs to put it right, so be careful to find out what the costs will be before you start; a missing exhaust or damaged seat may be in that state because the part in question is rare or very expensive to replace.

Generally I think it's best to buy a bike that someone has already spent the money and hours on to fix up (and don't forget the cost of buying tools if you don't have them) rather than buy a cheap basket case that will sit in the garage for 6 months awaiting repair.

The Honda C90 Cub is a butt-ugly machine but Mr Soichiro Honda knew his stuff when he designed it; it's cheap, easy to get parts for and tough as nails. That's why it's the single best selling motor vehicle of all time.

  3. £300???a Vespa??? It is 2008, just to remind you

  4. There is no way your going to get a Vespa for £300 or under. Your going to be looking a looong time if you want one under 300 and it defo won't be a vespa they are expensive!. The cheapest i've seen is just under 500, mine was 550.

I'm sorry but i don't think you will find one that cheap, but best of luck!!

You might find one second hand.

Check out Directbikes, that's were i ordered mine from and it should be here by the 20th sept.

Edit- Just to make it clear, becuase someone who answered below me things i think the bikes from directbikes are vespas, i don't. I know what a vespa is, and would love to own one, but frankly all i can afford at 16 is a cheap one made in china, i don't mind as long as it gets me from A to B.  The bikes at places like direct bikes aren't great, but they are cheap.

  5. no chance...you can pick one up at that price but it will be a shed....hunt on ebay, the bargins are there to be had,you just have to know what your looking for.
