Depends on where in AZ you want to live and what you do.  Smaller towns like Yuma have a lower housing cost than Phoenix and probably  even Tucson.

Here's a cost of living calculator comparing the cost of living in Phoenix, AZ and Yuma, AZ; http://www.payscale.com/cost-of-living-c... I was surprised to find that the only area in which Phoenix is more expensive is in the cost of housing, which is 8% higher than in Yuma. Otherwise, the two cities have a very close cost of living.
