Does anyone know of a good program for producing a school newspaper?

I'm the editor of a school newspaper and I was looking for a program for the production of well made, creative, etc. designs for easy newspaper creation. Our school already uses InDesign, and we are not happy with it.

I would greatly appreciate if anyone knows of another program.

  1. InDesign's arch-nemesis is Quark, but if you don't like InDesign, you'll hate Quark.

Did you look into Microsoft's Publisher?

  2. I've been using Quark Express for years both in a professional newspaper setting and at home. You might look into that one.

EDIT: I have to disagree with "Mister" -- I very  much prefer Quark to In Design. I think it's personal preference as to which is easier for you -- and your kids. If you are at a high school level, you really need to have them beginning with one of the two, as they are industry standard.

  3. I use Quark, but for more kid friendly newsletters with lots of clip art to use I would suggest Print Workshop. When I was younger I used the program to create newsletters and calenders for an after school program and summer camp programs. Have fun!
