I have been looking on craigslist but someone already tried to scam me and my friend! I like craigslist but i want more options!

Any other websites? I don't really want to have to pay anyone to look for me!

  1. Craigslist has become the default option for finding "no-fee" apartments.

I would suggest walking around the neighborhood you are interested in and checking store windows for possible flyers and/or asking doormen (if the building has one). Another option on your walk would be to see if any of the buildings have the management company listed and then you can call them directly.

You may not want to pay a fee but this will open some options to you. Every real estate broker offers apartments as well as sales. Be upfront tell them you are only willing to pay 1 month rent as a fee or less and see what they have in their listings.

    Happy hunting.

  2. Like Billy Crystal says in that movie, follow the obituaries, find out where the deceased lived and call to see when their place will be available for rent.
