  1. Maternity is more of a pre-payment plan. Since only people who are planning on having a baby gets maternity the insurance company knows it will more than likely have to pay out. No insurance company is going to pay out more than it takes in. All policies will have either a waiting period before benefits are paid or a reduced benefit to start. Do the math and you can usually come out ahead if you set up a payment plan with the doctor and hospital. You may also want to consider an HSA qualified plan where you can open up a separate savings account to pay for the delivery. All policies, even if it doesn't have maternity, will cover complications such as a C-section so you do need a policy.

Group policies are a little different. Everybody in a group pays more to have the maternity benefits, even the single guys and people beyond child bearing years.

  2. Where do you live?

Anthem has a HSA plan with a very good maternity benefit right now.

Contact us for a health insurance quote:

  3. Complete this quote form for health insurance.  A local agent will contact you and tell you about all of the maternity options that you have available to you locally.  Ask them about how supplemental health insurance (such as AFLAC) might help you out.
