I know I can make almond rice or oat milk but I'm looking for a product which is available to buy.

My baby (13 months) is anemic, and since calcium can block iron absorption he is supposed to have limited calcium intake. Unfortunately he LOVES milk so this is a bit of a problem! We live in Spain and normally I can get either an almond milk or soy milk off the shelf which doesn't have added calcium, but we will be in the US for nearly a month, travelling around quite a bit so making my own may not be very convenient. I need to know what I can use. PLEASE HELP!!!

  1. Eden soy has a flavor that isn't fortified.

  2. i like westsoy's unsweetened soymilk. all it is is water and soybeans, so it's 100% safe for your child. westsoy also makes an unsweetened vanilla, which has more taste to it. good luck!

  3. I would recommend either oat milk or rice milk, in Mexico they have a beverage know as "Horchata" a rice flavoured milk like drink in Spain, have you tried Goats milk, is is lower in calcium and lactic acid free.

  4. Westsoy makes a SWEETENED (with brown rice syrup) non-fortified soymilk, which is what I now buy exclusively. It's called Westsoy plain original. Look at the box and make sure. It's not just a problem for kids; non-organic calcium collects in the body and wreaks all kinds of havoc, from kidney stones to arthritis (joint pain from crystals). Also, try Edensoy rice/soy combo. Delish! I think Vitasoy may still have a non-fortified version but you'll have to check. Always look at the label!
