For a summer reading assignment, I have to find and read a myth that can be compared to some aspect of "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho.

I need some examples of cultural myths that have to do with traveling to find a treasure, finding unexpected treasures along the way, and omens. Thanks a lot!

  1. In the copy I have, the book starts with the story of Narcissus.  Why don't you use that?

  2. I haven't read your book but maybe Sindbad and the seven seas.  It fits the idea of travel and looking for treasure.  Also concerned Homer's Iliad and Odyssey.  But I'm not sure if that is what you are looking for.

  3. Kinda cheesy, but most Disney movies/ books have morals such as fallow your dreams, those will be very easy to compare and contrats with.

  4. you gave me a link,

    i have no idea :(

  5. i dunno try a chick flick

  6. I'm not sure if this might help, but there's a comparison to other works http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Alchemi...

    Hopefully it works. SP
