My son is a victim of the system. He has ADHD and the system failed him. I had to pull him from the public school and put him into private. The private school was a grade level ahead of the public and he had to go back a grade. After hiring an advocate and going to several IEP meetings my son was put back into the public school system only for us to discover he had to start the 4th grade over. He is now going to turn 13 in the summer and only be entering the 6th grade come fall. As a teenager and a boy going thru all the changes at this age he is unable to accept that his hard work has not given him a break. He is a GATE student, scored above superior on SAT, made the honor roll and just wants to be with kids that look like him. I feel I am loosing him, he is giving up and I must find a way to help. The system has no program for those that want to advance only those that have failed. Please HELP. Mom

  1. Take him out of school and homeschool him. I was a kid "lost in the system"  and was homschooled 7th grade and up it made all the difference in the world. My brother is also ADHD and homeschooling helps him concentrate better then he would in a classroom with all kind of distractions.
