Question:

Does anyone know of a quote like, "Don't tell people who you are, the truth will speak for itself"?

For instance, some people do seem to have it all together and are popular, etc, but they don't need to say it- people just seem to know. On the other hand some people brag about how great they are - what a ladies man they are, how popular they are, etc. when they aren't necessarily that popular and seem to just be trying to impress others. So, the person should just be themselves and, and the truth will speak for itself.

Does anyone know of any quotes or bible verses like this? Thank you!

  1. What you are/do speaks so loudly that I can't hear what you say.

    Truth will out.

From the Bible, there's something about judging a tree by its fruit. (not its leaves, I guess)

  2. 'res ipsa loquitur'  In latin this means "the thing speaks for itself."  It is a legal term and replaces the the 'proof of breach' element in a negligence lawsuit (but that is another matter).  Say, if a plane crashes and someone dies, you don't know if anything went wrong with the plane, but something would have had to for it to crash.  Let the matter speak for itself.
