Does anyone know of a scam by someone claiming to be with Action Aid International?

Action Aid International is an organization consisting of several countries as well as the United Nations that gives grants to people to help pull them out of poverty or further their education. I received an e-mail from someone claiming that I have been awarded a grant through a random drawing. I don't know whether to believe it or not. The e-mail came from a woman in Italy claiming to be an executive officer. However, the grants are strictly administered by Economic community for West African States (ECOWAS) and/or the European Union (EU) under delegated powers from the United Nations Organization (UNO). Has anyone else received a similar e-mail?

  1. Never heard of it, but if they are claiming you won money in a contest you never entered and now just want all your pertinent info to forward you the money: ITS A SCAM!

  2. never heard of it. Anytime you are suspicious of a email or phone scam or just an urban legend you should look it up on www.snopes.com my best advise is to never trust these things otherwise you might have to tell dateline NBC how you got scammed.

  3. Normally whenever you received an email from another country claiming you have been awarded either a grant, lucky draw, inheritance are all scam.

If this is a true grant, then you should receive a official letter stating your date of application and date of approval.

The most important thing to look out for is the email is not addressing to you and addressing in general.
