Does anyone know of a time when anyone encountered a ghost who spoke a foreign language?

I wonder how Ghost Hunters,.TAPS...and all those other groups go to foreign countries and understand what the ghosts are saying. Do they take an interpreter with them? Or do all ghosts speak English? (I'm not sure I should have wasted 5 pts. on a silly question like this. I just want to "play" too!!)

  1. That may explain why I hear ghosts talking and can't understand what the words are.  Maybe I attract ghosts from some far away lands!  Should I have a bunch of linguists listen to my EVP recordings?  Good question..........again!

  2. Great question. Gold star for you. From my personal experience it depended on "who" was actually speaking to me. When my ancestors showed up, they'd speak to me in Serbian (I'm from Serbian decent), and the others (no relation) would speak to me in English (because I live in a English speaking country and I know English). But I did experience hearing languages which I never heard before (really weird ones) - but somehow I "understood" what they were trying to tell me. It does get confusing for me. Honestly.

How I try to understand it, because a ghost is able to "metaphysically" connect to a human (spirit blending with spirit?), they "speak" to our subconscious, which then the consciousness tries to interpret into the language we are most capable of understanding.

  3. I am constantly having spirits talk to me. Unfortunately they are always speaking Portuguese. The good thing is that my husband recently received a reward package from his work and he chose to receive a language translator that has 12 different languages, including Portuguese! I'm finally going to figure out what these guys have been trying to say to me!

  4. my grandfather, when he 'came for a visit' after he died, spoke italian as he always did.

  5. I had a personal experience with what appeared to be a ghost that spoke Chinese, but he did know how to say: "read book" in "Engrish" though. Supposedly, he was referring to a journal he had written when he was an older and favorite student of Confucius. Who was than supposedly murdered with poison berries in his tea by jealous twins. I only saw his head floating around and it was a greenish color. I'm not saying there's any validity to this history, but, it is one of my memories or um....delusions/illusions. It was an interesting story, at least to me anyway.

I would imagine those TAPS stories used local interpreters and mediums who knew the language etc. I think those visits to these foreign countries are interesting to watch. One other show with mediums were brought to a room in an old house and asked if they could feel anything about what may have happened there and they came really close to the original story. Of course it could have all been staged anyway.

  6. It's funny how EVP's are almost always "spoken" in the language of those who are doing the listening  :)

  7. Yes! On a show that ran on sci-fi channel after ghost hunters last summer, the team was in Thailand doing research in a cemetary there. The language they recorded EVPs in was Thai!

and Denie, I can't say I am the worlds best typest. I will try harder in the future.

  8. Denie,

This is what bothers me about EVPs.  I see reason to believe that EVPs are nothing but auditory pareidolia--a person making a pattern out of random noise.  (There's visual pareidolia as well.)  That is why if I were testing EVPs I would have samples from all over the world and give them to different groups that speak different languages then I would see who comes up with what.  My hypothesis would be that just about every group would find EVPs in their language no matter what country the EVPs were recorded in.

Are you aware that the appearance of ghosts changes from culture to culture?

  9. Is everyone responding to this question nuts?

  10. The term EVP will now be called,"instrumental transcommunication (ITC)"

The words may be in any language, and they can even be in a combination of languages (called polyglot).

On the ghost hunters show in Ireland, they got an EVP that the home owner said was an ancient language. It was the show named " the elemental"

If you google South American paranormal, their EVPs are in the language of the country, not in English always. Reason being the dead people are from there so are the listeners.

  11. ghosts do not exist but there is a fake medium in Yelm Washington that channels a spirit that speaks a dead language
