does anyone know if their are any grants for people wanting to become teachers

I don't know for sure if there are any specific grants geared towards the Liberal Studies field in particular, but there are many grants available to you overall.

One thing I do know for sure is there is a program that is called the Apple Program. What this is, it's like an agreement between you and the lending agency and what you do is agree to work in a lower income, poverty stricken or work with a school where the students are not up to current standards for 5 years.  The company waives a big chunk of the money that you have to pay back (almost up to 50%).

After you've done your 5 years, you are free to go wherever you'd like.  Sounds pretty good to me.

There is a program called the STAR program. After you graduate, you have to be willing to either teach a high-needs subject, or in a high needs area. You can earn up to $3,000 a year for each. It is a five year comittment, then you can teach wherever you want.
