  1. Alice in Wonderland, The Little Prince, The Secret Garden, The Jungle Book, the Wind in the Willows, The Narnia Chronicles, A Wrinkle in Time, Peter Pan, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Phantom Tollbooth. If you want to be more mainstream, Harry Potter is always good. The City Of Ember and the accompanying books were some of my favorites as a kid. The Molly Moon series was good too. Nancy Drew is also fantastic. Inkheart was good and really interesting. The American Girl collection has good books, and they teach a lot about history. Dear America books are really good too, with the same sort of idea as the American Girl Doll books. Whatever you do, avoid Twilight. It's a badly-written book and it encourages less-that-wholesome behaviors. It's not worth the read and is a bit inappropriate in any case. Simmillarly, I wouldn't suggest the Clique books because they are about bratty, spoiled rich girls in Westchester (not what Westchester is like, incidentally), who get everything they want without having to work for it.

  2. my like all time favorite is

Nothing's Sacred by Lewis Black (non fiction)

I really loved it because, well it's really hard to think of Lewis Black,as a philisophical person, but this book really was a lot deeper than what I was expecting, there were just a lot of things that I could relate to my life, that I never really understood, but the way he put the things to me,that i related to,it was like, wow someone else has gone through this sh*t too,and he put it in a way that i could not only understand and relate to,but that made me wanna cry,and made me laugh a lot too One of the main things that stuck out to me was the line "Death is nothing more than a drug to the human soul Because it truly alters our reality and perceptions for a period of time"...I loved that and the other thing was "There is only today;Tomorrow is an afterthought. Second, your dream is what really counts, so always pursue it with a vengeance, and third, God can be a real d**k sometimes"....That stuck out to me too.It was just a really good book, but I wouldn't reccommend it if you're offended by cussing.

    Sorry for very long explanation.

But these are exactly for a 11 year old.

  10. What about the Harry Potter series? Even adults read them. Another set would be Lord of the Rings.

  11. The Kiki Strike series by Kirsten Miller. The series (which is currently two books long) is about a group of girls who live in New York City and explore an underground city while fighting evil princesses, cliques, gangs, and giant rats. Each book is about 350-400 pages, but both books are fairly easy to read.

The first book is Kiki Strike: Inside The Shadow City ( http://www.amazon.com/Kiki-Strike-Inside... ), and the second book is Kiki Strike: The Empress's Tomb ( http://www.amazon.com/Kiki-Strike-Empres... ).

The series is full of adventure, action, humor, plot twists, survival tips, and wackiness. A very enjoyable read. Hope this helps!
