  1. Catholic Charities

  2. I can give you only general answers w/o knowing where you are.  There are a lot of scams on net so your best bet is local help where it can be verified if the situation is real.

For school things talk with the counselor or principal at the schools your children attend. They will know who in the community is giving help on this and the school may also help.  They would also be a good source for info about other help resources.  That would also be true of clothes help for school.

Your husband should be eligible for unemployment compensation if he was laid off.    Your family may also be eligible for Food Stamps and Medicaid.   Depending on your local laws there may also e financial help.   Contact the welfare dept for info on these.   For emergency financial aid like to prevent eviction or power shut offs contact Salvation Army and  the nearest large Catholic church for their St,  Vincent De Paul Society.   Your United Way can give you a list of other help agencies.

For food help till Food Stamps start or to supplement them or if you are not eligible go to http://www.secondharvest.org on the left side is a lace to enter your zip code.  That will take you to info about foodbanks in your area and the foodbanks which are like wholesalers can tell you about food pantries where you can get help.

Many people have had lay offs and otehr hard times lately so there may also be a support group meeting in your area where people in similar circumstances can help and encourage each other.  Your localnewspaper or United Waywould have info on that.

  3. Most local churches will have an outreach program that helps families in need.  Contact all your local churches, not just one you go to, and ask for help.  Some will pay a bill for you, some will give you school supplies, some will give you food from their food pantry or give you a grocery store or gas gift card.  Just pull out the phone book, call them up, tell them your story, and see if they can help.  One place won't be able to do everything, but if you call 15 different churches, you may get a large part of what you immediately need.

  4. oh no! I'm so sorry this is happening to you!

I don't know of any charities, and I couldn't find any on google- but until you find one, maybe you could talk to your children's teachers, and see if they have any extra supplies?

Good Luck, I only wish the best for you.
