  1. During my last trip I came across a website called http://www.cheaphotel-s.com . It has quite a large variety of hotels. You might wanna give it a try.

  2. This site was compared with other hotel search engines and found to have the cheapest, best in Paris:

    http://www.hotelscombined.com?a_aid=781b...

Alternatively, there are some cheap hostels.

  3. Is 75 € / night, (with the possibility to save the price of 2 restaurants a day) "cheap" for you?…

Not far from the Hotel St. Andre des Arts mentioned by Rillifane, and cheaper, there is a studio to rent for short periods.

It is small, but cute and perfectly "decent"!

There is a 16/9 TV with a DVD player, a Hi-Fi, and a kitchenette to eat at home if you want it:

it's the better way to make real savings ;-)

You can see it on the website:

    http://www.locationgite-paris.com

On the website, there are also a lot of tools to prepare your trip: lot of pictures, ideas for walks in the neighborhood and many links to monuments, museums, train stations, airports and so on.

    Useful ;-)

Voilà! And sorry for my english: I'm French and I lack practice…

  4. I am looking also, they all seem to be through the roof.

  5. I stayed at the hotel de la sorbonne in April. The rooms were a round 50 euros when booked online. This includes breakfast and en suite facilities. When we arrived we were upgraded to their a modern 'superior suite' for no extra cost. It is situated in the Latin quarter  and is close to metro stations and bars and restaurants. Although it was only a 2 star hotel it was a very comfortable stay and I would definitely go back.

Also, try searching for youth hostels as these are also very comfortable and are usually a lot cheaper than other hotels.

  6. You could try this site it might help

  7. Terms like "decent" and "cheap" are very subjective.

I've stayed at the Hotel St. Andre des Arts dozens of times over the last 30 years and found it very pleasant. Currently, a double room with en suite facilities, costs 89 euros. The price inlcudes all taxes and a simple French breakfast of cafe au lait and bread with butter and jam. This is a very simple hotel with no elevator, no TV, no minibar, and no room service.  If your notion of "decent" requres any of these things then you will hate this place.
