  1. A big event is the celebration of El dia de los muertos, but unfortunately that is November 5th (day of the dead or Halloween).  In December, they celebrate (like we do) Christmas and New years eve.  On New Years Eve, they burn effigies of the old year (made in the form of people).  pretty interesting to watch.
