I'm sorry to hear that you were scammed.  I have a couple ideas that should help you out.  I will give you two different directions to work from home.  You need to figure out what type of income you want.  You can look into home jobs or home based businesses.  Both ways gives you the opportunity to work from home.  Home based jobs, the ones that are legit only pay minimum wage.  After taxes are taken out, your take home is below minimum wage.  Your other option is having a home based business.  They take time to build, but the income opportunity is the same as a traditional business without all the over head expenses.
