  1. the same kind of books as all the other kids, what is to explain? she is human just like all the other kids.

  2. We have bi-racial children in our family but I know of no books offhand that I could suggest.

However,as a parent of an adopted 5 yr old daughter and as a Mixed Media Artist I have an idea for you both.

Perhaps the two of you, or as a family, could gather some family photos from both lineages and create your own book, or scrapbook that would show the blending of colors to create new colors. There are wonderful papers on the market today to reflect the rainbows of our World now.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with "Altered Books" but that is another good idea. It's where you take a book, add found objects that have meaning to you in some way & create a whole new book with many layers, techniques, items of importance to your family perhaps. Little mementos of things you have done together.

You could take a page and dip daddys hand in one color, moms in the other & then mix the two colors and let your daughter place her handprint in the middle when the others dry. That could represent she is a blend of the love from you both.

I could go on and on, but I will check tomorrow & share some links for you to look over & see if this is something you might want to do.

Love creates some beautiful colors in this life of ours. May you, yours & your new creation be Blessed with the Joy life has to offer.

  3. try the abc, 123 books first to see if they are smart enough

  4. What kind of questions are you looking to answer? As far as race is concerned both my kids have asked me several times why they are their color and i tell them the same answer, because people come in all different colors, or because that's how mommy and daddy made you.

All kids are curious and no book will be able to ever answer every question your child will come up with. And trust me sometimes they can come up with good ones lol!  :)

  5. What is to explain.  If someone asks her of her heritage all she has to do is say "My momma is white and my daddy is black" or visa versa.  This is only an issue with you don't superimpose it on your child.

  6. What do you have to explain?  People come in different colors.  Give her books with people of all ethnicities so she is exposed and educated, but you don't need to buy a specific biracial book.  Don't be so concerned, she will pick up on it and may have negative feelings.  She is special and just happens to be that color.

  7. Barnes and Noble has a few books touching on the subject--they are in the kid's book section.  You can find them on Amazon too.  http://www.amazon.com/You-Be-Me-Ill/dp/0...

  8. Mabey try to get a book on a situation that te parents have to explain it to the girl in the book, such as her friend broke her arm and they are explaining what a cast is.  Mabey is you daughter sees that the character in that book asks questions about things, mabey she will too.  TIP: Instead of going to a book store and buying the book, rent the book from the library!  P.S. I am glad to hear that you are a parent that describes their child as sweet, instead of the typiocal parent saying that their child is fussy and lound!  She sounds like a delightful little girl!

  9. just tell her you banged a black dude and then she came nine  months later. Tell her that she is half and half because you are white and her dad is black.
