  1. Wow!  Somebody who is actually willing to sit down and read a few books!  You have already shown yourself smarter than the average beginner.  Most want a quick online tutorial and then open their account and start losing money.

    Many of the books already mentioned are good.  If you wanted to learn to be a doctor, there is merit to looking over the shoulder of successful doctors and seeing how they do it.  The same is true with stock.  Following this logic, I suggest two books by Michael Covel: "Trend Following" and "The Complete Turtle Trader".  There are also two books by Schwager: "Market Wizards" and "New Market Wizards".  Add Burton's "Hedge Hunters"
