Does anyone know of any good places to fish without a permit 50 mile radius from Edinburgh?

taking my young friend whos never fished before and ive never caught one yet despite paying out a right few quid on permits so dont call me a cheapskate :-) hey im scottish

take him to a local pier etc. its free to fish here in scotland and at least he will get some machies. do his ego some good. me and my son are going to gourock 2morrow for the same reason. tight lines
