I have extensive construction experience as well as being a licensed plumber in canada. I am very knowledgeable in the area of wells and water pumping and distribution systems.

  1. Carpenters Without Borders

    Habitat for Humanity

    Global Village Programme

    http://www.habitat.org/

    (click on "get involved"

With these organizations and other short-term volunteer sending groups, be prepared to pay for your own transportation and accommodation, and perhaps an additional fee to cover security, translation, staff supervision, etc. Also, you will need to get medical insurance coverage.

The focus of aid and development organizations it to employ local people to do their own construction of housing, wells, water pumping, etc. So if you are in a position to train others to do this, emphasize this when applying to organizations.

If you want to look for paid work, try http://www.developmentex.com and http://www.reliefweb.int (click on "vacancies).

  2. maybe the Peace Corp?

  3. www.risingfountains.org

Email Mathias Zimba (director) directly and tell him what you would like to accomplish! This is a wonderful organization and I have worked with them often. Tell him Maria sent you...
