  1. It appears safe and what she needs, at this time.  It's not all that fancy, but for now, it will keep her safe and is built for the purpose for which she needs it.  I actually think that it is a decent looking, no frills saddle and wouldn't be afraid to try it...I didn't see what the guarantee is, you might ask.  Most times, people who barrel race use the round skirt on their saddles, but if you are going to be using this saddle as a multipurpose saddle, I would probably get it square skirted, because of the resale value.  Who knows, she may get it, fall in love with it and NEVER want to part with it.  You might also consider, if you know what size seat that you need, check EBAY out...I have purchased a lot of quality horse tack/harness there with great success.  Just know what you want when you go to look though...'course, that holds true about everywhere.

  2. Usually cheap saddles don't last long.

I bought one that was $500 dollars....the Cheyenne roll was starting to come off and the material was ripping on it...It was a similar to the one you posted.

Get a more expensive one they last way longer.

Today is my birthday and I got a new sadlle and it was a $1,000 dollar saddle.

I found that all the saddles I have been thourough that were cheap did not last me long I only had one real expensive one and it lasted me 17 years before it started giving out.

  3. Try E-bay, they have all types of stuff on there for a reasonable amount. It may be used, but at least you have a saddle that you are looking for. ebay.com

  4. One of the best places to look is on www.craigslist.org you can look near your town.

  5. I have a barrel saddle from American Saddlery [they made that saddle you  linked] so you should be ok. The one I use is VERY VERY nice and I love it! Of course, it cost me a pretty penny [1k+] but ASaddlery is a good brand, and that saddle should do well for you.
