Start a charm bracelet

Each birthday buy her another charm

When she is 13, give her the charm bracelet, and explain each charm

Or when she gets older(five or above) you can have her wear it sometimes on special events

Well you shouldn't have a problem buying toys of any sort. How about savings bonds that way when she gets old enough to drive she can cash them in and put it towards a new car or she could use them for something else. She would definitely love and appreciate it at that stage in her life. Most kids have way to many toys as is.

At a year, she'll be more interested in the boxes and bows, so she will love whatever you choose. One thing I always did was buy a special music box and then a small age appropriate toy.

my husband has had our babys footprint tatoo on his arm with her name and dob underneath and its lovely,if thats not for you,get something that is dated with her first birthday, or dob,the charm bracelet idea is a nice one or maybe a locket, or you could purchase a memory book and fill in on each of her birthdays as a special 18/21 gift.

She has no interest in unique. She needs fun and safe. You could do a whole lot worse than a big cardboard box :)
