We have a son of 11 with severe autism. We have been recommended by our son's occupational therapist to try and obtain sensory integration equipment funding from charities, we live in the UK. The equipment is quite pricey but is essential for our son. Does anyone know of any good charities that provide this sort of funding for special needs children? Many thanks in advance for your help.

  3. Hi Hun i too have a son with severe autism he is nine and he is also non verbal, i too have tried for this sort of equipment but with no luck charities only provide a small amount towards the cost of such equipment and you will have to fund the rest, this is what i was told the only grant i was able to get was from the family fund which also only have a set budget for each child, i ended up saving my son's disability living allowance for his things

    best of luck

  4. The National Autistic Society may be able to help out.

  5. There are lots of charities that provide grants for disabled children. The National Autistic Society helpline will be able to help you with those that are autism specific. You best option is to approach the Family Fund (familyfund.org). Family fund provide grants for equipment for disabled children and their families. They can also help with money towards holidays etc. You can apply for a grant once a year. They do take a while to process your application but are usually very helpful. I have had a grant from them in the past and apart from it taking a while the forms were fairly easy to fill in and I did get what I requested. Good luck.
