The computer in my preschooler's room does not have internet at the moment. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good free game for kids that isn't online.

(Meaning I can download it here, and install it on their computer.)

  1. Do a google search such as preschool games + free.

  2. These links might help you:

    http://downloadablegames.blogspot.com/

    http://www.time4learning.com/preschool-g...

    http://funschool.kaboose.com/preschool/

    http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2...

  3. Nick.com

  4. I have not done that.  We use the internet and CD's that we have purchase.  Would you be willing to buy/donate a CD?  We have several cd's that were pretty cheap...a Winnie the Pooh ABC's, and Leap frog makes very educational ones too.

  5. I know a good website we use with our pre-k.  It's called starfall.com.   It has from ABC's to matching ......   Fun site.

  6. nickjr.com is a good one for games. but also you may need to purchase some like Reader Rabbit or Leap Frog that you can install on more than one computer.

  7. Have you researched the effects that computers can have on preschoolers?  I would not recommend even having a computer in your child's room, similar to a tv, the stimulation of the screen takes away developing imaginative qualities in your child that when he/she gets to school level, your child will complain of being 'bored'.

  8. http://www.nickjr.com  and

http://www.pbskids.org are two of my favorites for my 5 year old.  I especially like the Dora the Explorer and Diego games.  She has really gained a lot of skills through play at these two sites.  Their games are available for purchase, and http://www.bigfishgames.com also has several kid-friendly games for the younger set.  All of their games are available as free one-hour demo versions.  My little one is not quite a reader yet, so I select for the games that give good verbal directions.  (Which ended up improving her listening and comprehension skills tremendously!)  Big Fish Games has a game club setup where you can get the games for $6.99 each, rather than their full price of $19.99, and the grown up games are good, too.  Enjoy!
