  1. not totally free but most vets have discounted rates on vaccinations one saturday a month. Many health problems can be treated at home - just use common sense, as you would on yourself.  For infection, antibiotic salve.  For abscess, hot compresses and antibiotic salve.  For skin conditions either antibiotic salve and/or cortisone salve.  For puncture wound, clean it well with hydrogen peroxide and apply antibiotic salve.  Be sure your cat's mouth/teeth are healthy and that it has no fleas or intestinal parasites.

If it's terminal and you can't care for your cat, take it to the pound and give it up.  At least that way it will have a humane death if need be. Not much sense in letting the poor cat suffer needlessly.

  2. Call your local SPCA in your area.  They should be able to recommend a vet that discounts their service, though I have never found a vet that does free service.  Even SPCA's have to pay for their services.  This is going to sound harsh, but if you can't afford adequate medical care for your pets, perhaps you should find a home that can, and you can get your "pet fix" by volunteering at a shelter, or fostering pets (the SPCA will cover medical care, and sometimes the food).  Good luck, and God Bless.
