Does anyone know of like a nice small town preferably near phoenix arizona?

I'm writing a book and I need a small town (No more than 3600 in population) i would preferably like it to be near pheonix (up to an hour and a half away) but if there are none any small town would be helpful. PLEASE HELP! =)

I would suggest Wickenburg for more of a small desert town. But it is starting to develop. Black Canyon City, and New River are also an option for a small town on the way to Flagstaff. Miami and Globe are also an option if you are looking for more of a mountain and not desert town.

Try Prescott, AZ.  about 90 miles north, very nice there.  Some nice small outlying towns around there too.  But Prescott is like 45000.  but its a nice town with a square in the center of town, very uncommon in arizona.

Forget Phoenix, try Flagstaff or Sedona they are more to what you are asking. Sedona is known for it`s art galleries and retirement enclaves.

Jerome, AZ.  It is a quaint little town that sits on a side of a hill.  It is mostly inhabited by artisans and has lots of galleries.  I think it is a great town to reference in a book.

Well its beginning to populate by the minute but buckeye is a nice small town that is also conveniently 20 mins away from phx. There are a few ranch homes that are off on there own for complete privacy.

Might depend on what type of book you are writing.  If you want something rough, dusty and raw a place like Globe, Superior (where the movie U-turn was based), Wickenburg, Apache Junction or Ajo might work.  If you want something more quaint then Jerome, Sedona, Prescott Valley, Campe Verde, Snowflake, Pinetop, or Strawberry (Last 3 not supe close to PHX) might work.

A small town within an hour of Phoenix, (and less than a half hour from Scottsdale.)
