it is NOT a french name and has not been shortend. plz no information that is coppied and pasted/reworded from ansistery.com.

  1. I agree that it sounds Greek. If you are looking for the origin/meaning, remember that a lot of times surnames get spelled differently on different documents or change over time, so you have to be flexible. I know one surname in my family, Major, has been spelled Majors, Mayger, Mager, Mayor, etc. Try looking for names like Duvros, Davros, Dauvros as well.
