  1. Unfortunately, most of the shelters are kill shelters. Those that are not are proud of their no-kill status and display it prominantely on the website and in their names. You should check the website and unless it explicitly says no-kill, then it is. I used to work in a no-kill shelter in NJ and it was the only one in like a 20 mile radius, despite there being like 5 other shelters.

See, the dilema that i have with kill pounds is that i want to save the animals, but by boycotting them and going to no-kill shelters, more shelters will become no-kill.

Also, having worked in animal shelters for a long time, ive noticed that kill pounds that consider animals "unadoptable" will be held for only a few days in case a local, usually no-kill, animal shelter wants to try to save and rehabilitate them before the pound euthanizes them. Cute, lovable breeds like labs or retrievers are usually adopted out quickly. Unfortunatley, the no-kill shelters are usually stuck with the hard to place animals that otherwise would have been put down. And these need a good home that would help them become better dogs.

  2. they all are. just go they and ask for the dogs that have been there the longest. after 4 months uaslly they put them to sleep or sell them to korean people :[ :[ :[  i have nothing against all koreans except the ones who eat dogs.
