I know there are some games out there that child psychologists use as well, but don't know the names of them. ANY games that teach moral values, like Honesty, and Respect, and such would be FANTASTIC. Anyone that knows of some great games for this, I would greatly appreciate it.

  1. If you go to a good Christian book store they have a lot of them- particularly the Family Christian Book Store line-  There's one that's like Scruples (which is a good one itself) but they have a lot.  They even have a card game (like yu gi oh) that is in this vein, and the artwork is actually pretty cool.

  2. halo3

  3. poker,if you teach someone poker and use betting with money. if you beat them you give them there money back and say dont gambler. teaches them not to gamble

  4. My favorite is one that Warren Buffet played with his kids. He put a slot machine upstairs in the home and paid his kids their allowance in quarters. He made back all the money he ever paid them.

But boy did they ever learn the lesson.

  5. Many games could fit into this without being specifically setting out as a goal to teach morals.  Board games, unlike most video games, allow a personal interaction that requires the participants to act politely and honestly.  They also require respect, if the player wishes to play board games with other people.

In other words, if you can get a good clean family game - and there are boat loads of them - then the teaching of many of the values will be automatic, and, if you are playing along, the values will be from you, not a predefined game set of do's and don'ts.  Board games are a great way to to inculcate social interaction, respect, and honestly.  You teach the right and wrong, it is manifested in the playing of the game.

  6. maybe u could try to make up ur own game. include principles that you want ur children to have, and make it fun. hope i helped... btw halo3 isnt a game that instills morals!!!

  7. candyland the bible game

  8. Chess teaches that there are always benefits/consequenses to your decisions.  Not really a moral lesson directly.  But a good lesson in planning what you do before you do it.  It also shows the benefit of making sacrifices.  It can also demonstrate how some people that you don't think have potential actually can be very powerful.  (When a lowly pawn checkmates the powerful king for example.)

  9. when i was little there was a game called mind your manners, and that was the coolest game EVER, i have no idea how it's played, i think it was like chutes and ladders but with manner cards that would be like "you gave up your seat to an old lady! move forward 4 spaces" or "you didn't return a toy to your friend! go back 3 spaces"

    I LOVED THAT GAME
