I guess I should mention a couple of things. We Mississippians are never surprised to have a warm December. Also, most people in my family are big and hot easily.

  1. You mean rude to make people stand outside for an hour wedding ceremony in the winter?  Yes.

You can either have a winter wedding or an outdoor (spring/summer) wedding.  You can't do both and expect guests to enjoy attending.

Why don't you find a ceremony site that has floor to ceiling windows that overlook beautiful scenery (like a forest, vine vineyard or lake). That way you will get December scenery without inflicting your guests with the sniffles.

  2. I am also a MS native and so to be a Natchez bride. I know what you mean about the 70+ degrees at Christmas. You also need to keep in mind that we also tend to get a significant amount of rain. I don't know where you are located, but as someone before me suggested you may want to use an indoor location with a lot of windows. If you do chose to go outdoors, please have a backup plan.

  3. I think you're taking a c**p shoot.  I live in Alabama, and I know there have been quite a few times that we've had to run the AC on Christmas, but that doesn't mean that it isn't going to be cold and miserable come December.

  4. I think it would be a bit cold. Don't get me wrong, I'm in Texas (obviously from my screen name) so we have pretty warm winters here as well. However, if it's one thing I've learned, it's that murphey's law never fails. The one day a year it chooses to snow, sleet, ect will probably be the one day you need it to be nice. This was one of the biggest factors when planning mine, since I had no desire to be wet, cold, or desperately trying to move everything at the last minute on my wedding day. Ultimately, it's your day and if you want it outside then have it outside. If you do decide to go that route I'd look into renting several of those portable heaters for your guests and a large tent to help block the wind, and maybe an alternate location in case the weather turns really bad.

    Best of luck!

  5. I don't know anyone but would have a back up plan just in case. I've played basketball in shorts outside on Christmas day and the very next Christmas it was about 20 degrees. You never know what weather you'll get. Do you have a location in mind?
