The flood myth, e.g Noah's Ark. etc, has appeared in religious texts and as a myth in many many religions and faiths, even just as folklore.
E.g. Hinduism, the legend of Manyu and the 1st avatar of Vishnu, the Matsya, who enveloped the world in waters, and many had to take the animals onboard his ark
The sumerian legend of Ziusudra
along with Akkad, Babylon, ancient china, so MANY ancient civilizations refer to a flood of epic proportions that seemingly wiped out a large quantity of life on earth.
Who else has noticed this, and why do people think this is?
I have postulated two suggested answers
1. fantastical/spiritual = the flood myth refers to an actual physical event. The myth was ingrained in humanity, and refers to a "bygone era" where men and gods walked together.
2. rational/scientific = As with the single ancestors theory, it could simply have been a myth or folk tale that was known to a single group, that dispersed globally, and over many generations, it was repeated and changed in a global game of chinese whispers until very few (nevertheless significant) ideas remained in the story in the different cultures.
