Question:

Does anyone know or ever heard of DHEA supplementation actually causing joint pain?

I've only been taking about 20 mg. per day for about 10 days but i've noticed some joint pain. it could be something else, but nothing that I'm aware of.

  1. Generally, it shouldn't. DHEA is a precursor hormone, which means your body will convert it into either Testosterone or Estrogen based on what your body needs. Most of the common "side effects" revolve around typical reactions that happen when you get a boost of Testosterone or Estrogen (hair growth, acne, etc)... but I've never heard of it causing joint pain unless it's an allergic reaction.

    I would suggest that you stop taking it and pay close attention to your joint pain. If it doesn't clear up within 3-5 days, it was probably coincidental pain that would have happened whether you were on DHEA or not. If it goes away, you could try taking the DHEA again and see if it comes back, as that would verify that it is an allergic reaction. Good luck!


  2. what ever is really in , it just kills me too. My husband swears by it .

    I have tried 3 times and it not good for me..
