Does anyone know or have pics for the speno railway in the old days?

I want to give my dad a photo of speno whitch is where he worked for years if u know how to find one of these photos or have one it would mean alot thanks

  1. That is a terrific idea, but, I'm sorry,  I know of no "speno" railway or place on the railroad by that name.  Is it possible you are talking about the company, "Speno?"  They are not a railroad but contract out to railroads for specific work, most notably for rail grinding.

    I think you can find video of one or two on YouTube, although they may be vids of Speno's chief competitor, "Loram."

    By the way, they were the "good old days," my dear...  and there is a remote possibility that your dad and I may have worked together for one or two days, he for Speno, me for the SP.  This would have been in the '70s.  It's a long shot, though.  Just for fun ask him if he ever did any work on Southern Pacific's Sacramento Division in this time frame.


  2. Hoghead is right, the only Speno equipment I ever saw was rail grinders but they may have done other contract work also.

    If he worked that for years he must be a tough old bird, that is pretty hard work.

    It is amazing what turns up on eBay, type in rail grinder and see what pops up.
