Question

gotten any jail time for assault with a deadly weapon? how many years is that?

one of my friends got charged with that

and im guessing the weapon was the vehicla he was driving

That depends on where you live and if he is found guilty.  The punishment varies by state and the age of the offender.   Juveniles found guilty will not be sent to prison, but will probably end up in juvie for a few months (followed by probation, community service, and possibly being sent to a group home).  

Adults convicted of the charge will most likely be sent to either county jail or state prison, depending on judge and the state's law.  Probation is likely, but only after serving some time.

If a person is convicted and the weapon was indeed the vehicle he was driving; license suspension or revocation will be likely regardless of the age of the accused.
